Q. Water is coming in through my roof/my ceiling is wet. How is that addressed?
A. Once again, we will determine the source of the water and then adjust our plan accordingly. If your ceiling is just showing signs of water damage, the source may not be as evident as a rainstorm. You may have damage inside your roof or attic, and there may be damage to your insulation. Our technicians will evaluate the amount of moisture and then assess the damage to determine the best course of action.
Q. I had a sewer line back up. What do I do?
A. If the sewage has permeated any porous materials, such as insulation, drywall, or paneling, they should be removed immediately by our professional team. Items such as concrete flooring and tile must be cleaned and thoroughly sanitized. Any items that cannot be cleaned and sanitized—such as bedding—should be discarded and replaced.
Q. How long does it take for drywall, carpeting, furniture, etc. to dry? Will I need to relocate while the services are being conducted?
A. Contingent upon the type of water that caused the damage, you may be back to normal in a day or two. Once the damage has been treated and materials have been replaced, your home or business may be looking better than ever! However, if the amount of water was significant, or was standing for a period of time, it will sometimes take weeks for the drywall, flooring, furniture and other items to dry out. Sometimes they might need to be disposed, and restoration and replacement will be necessary. If the water damage is caused by flood waters, sewer water, or has left mold and mildew, you may want to stay somewhere else for health reasons until it is cleaned up.
Q. What could happen if I don’t repair water damage right away?
A. If the water is from a clean source, it can slowly eat away at the drywall, insulation, flooring, ceiling, etc. The water damage will be evident and can be a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Water from an unclean source—river runoff, standing water, sewer water—needs to be treated by a professional immediately. Bacteria and other microbes, but in the water and airborne can make you extremely sick, so make sure you do not attempt to clean it yourself!
